Witheridge 2 Ship Inn A 7
Ben McCarthy hit an 18 dart 2nd leg in a 2-0 win to give the Ship Inn A the lead but the Witheridge Player of the Match Robin Irwin levelled the score with a 2-0 win. Paul Dart hit a 100 shot out in an 18 dart 2nd leg but was defeated by the Ship Inn A Player of the Match Wayne Grinney who hit a 100 start in a 13 dart 1st leg in a 2-1 win to restore his teams lead. Kieran Peek hit a 13 dart 1st leg and a 153 shot out in a 9 dart 2nd leg in a 2-0 win over Ben Payne to make it 3-1. Aiden Mann hit a 17 dart 2nd leg in a 2-0 win to make it 4-1 and Vic McCarthy hit a 16 dart 1st leg in a 2-0 win to secure the match for the Ship Inn A at the end of the singles.
A 2-0 win for Robin Irwin & Ralph Brown in the first of the pairs kept Witheridge in with a chance of the bonus point but this disappeared when Ben McCarthy & Wayne Grinney hit a 17 dart 1st leg in a 2-0 win to make it 6-2. The final game also went to the Ship Inn A with a 2-0 win for Vic McCarthy & Matt McCarthy.
Newton Rec B 2 Mitre 7
Phil Arthur hit a 100 start in the 1st leg and a 100 start in the 2nd leg in a 2-0 over Nicole Goyne to give the Mitre the lead before Jack Goyne levelled the match with a 2-0 win against Dan Yelland. Nigel Callard hit a 120 start in the 3rd leg in a 2-1 win to restore the Mitre lead and Dan Strong made it 3-1 with a 2-1 win over Ross Goyne. The Newton Rec B Player of the Match Phill Ward hit a 108 shot out in the 1st leg in a 2-0 win against Darryl Banks to pull the score back to 3-2. The Mitre Player of the Match Liam Goyne hit a 180 in the 1st leg and a 180 in the 2nd leg in a 2-0 win over Paul Richardson to put his team a game from victory.
The Mitre took all the pairs and the match with wins for Liam Goyne & Kev Skinner 2-0, Adam Treen & Dan Strong 2-1 and Phil Arthur & Nigel Callard 2-0.
Ship Inn B 7 Plymouth Inn 2
The joint Ship Inn B Player of the Match Chris Atherton put his team ahead with a 2-1 win and the other Ship Inn B Player of the Match Callum Henman hit a 112 start in the 2nd leg in a 2-0 win to double the lead. Chunky Lander made it 3-0 with a 2-0 win before the Plymouth Inn Player of the Match James Mills hit a 110 start in the 1st leg in a 2-0 win to pull a game back. A 2-1 win for Ryan Foster put the Ship Inn B a game from victory and Alex Hill secured the match with a 2-0 win in the remaining singles game.
A 2-0 win for Alex Hill & Ryan Foster denied the Plymouth Inn a chance of the bonus point. Lisa Daw & Neil Wilson picked up a second game for the Plymouth Inn with a 2-1 win but the final game went to the Ship Inn B with a 2-1 win for Justin Hunt & Chunky Lander.
Duke Pirates 5 Waterbridge 4
The Duke Pirates Player of the Match Brian Hodge gave his team the lead with a 2-0 win before the Waterbridge Player of the Match Martin Matthews levelled the score with a 2-1 win. Malcolm Wills then put Waterbridge ahead with a 2-0 win but Josh Misselbrook levelled the score with a 2-1 win over Craig Stanbury. Dean Stanbury then put Waterbridge 3-2 up with a 2-1 win before Shane Henman hit a 120 start in the 1st leg and an 18 dart 3rd leg in a 2-1 win to make it all square at the end of the singles.
Craig Stanbury hit a 180 in the 3rd leg but finished on the losing pairing as a 2-1 win for Lez German & Gareth Dart put the Duke Pirates a game from victory. A 2-1 win for Josh MisselBrook & Brian Hodge secured the match for the Duke Pirates before Waterbridge took the bonus point with a 2-0 win for Andy Rowe & Martin Matthews.

The Duke of York A Player of the Match Michelle Andrews hit a 116 start in a 15 dart 2nd leg in a 2-0 win to make it 3-0. The joint Newton Rec A Player of the Match Malcolm Mitchell pulled a game back with a 2-0 win but Tony Rowe put the Duke of York A a game from victory with a 2-1 win. The other joint Newton Rec A Player of the Match Dave Bloomfield kept his team in the match with a 2-1 win in the remaining singles game.

Flynn Jones hit a 115 start in a 15 dart leg in a 2-0 win to restore the Rewe Club lead and Dan Davies hit a 15 dart 1st leg in a 2-0 win over Pete Andrew jnr to make it 3-1. The Half Moon Player of the Match John Martin pulled the score back to 3-2 with a 2-1 win against Karen Matthews. Jack Walker hit a 152 start in a 16 dart 1st leg and an 11 dart 3rd leg in a 2-1 win to put Rewe Club a game form victory.

Chris Hunt then put Upton Pyne a game form victory with a 2-0 win. The Morchard Club A Player of the Match John Bolt hit a 14 dart 2nd leg but was defeated by Alan Long who hit a 13 dart 1st in a 2-1 win to secure the match for Upton Pyne. Steve Macefield completed a clean sweep in the singles with a 2-0 win against Rodney Moore.
The Upton Pyne Player of the Match Frank Farley along with partner Chris Hunt extended the lead with a 2-1 win in the first of the pairs. The remaining pairs both went to Upton Pyne with wins for Jay Frayne & Ronnie Webb 2-1 and Steve Macefield & Alan Long 2-0.

Of note this week.
Great to see Frank Farley back in action this week, he has been the oldest player in the League for several seasons and was Player of the Match for Upton Pyne this week.
Second and third in the singles averages met this week and it was Wayne Grinney who preserved his second place with a 2-1 win over Paul Dart.
Kieran Peek tops the averages and the under 30 section and in the latter he beat his nearest rival this week with a 2-0 win over Ben Paine.
The top 12 players in the under 60’s singles averages are all in the top 32 and in the under 60’s pairs averages 11 of them are in the top 32 with the twelfth one in 33rd place.
The four members of the Goyne family hold positions 13 to 16 in the singles averages table.
League Singles & League Pairs
Entries for the League Singles and League Pairs must be sent to the fixtures secretary on [email protected] by the 29th February 2024. Entry fee to each competition is £2 per player which must be paid by the same date. Failure to pay by this date will result in exclusion from the competition. For payments please contact the treasurer on [email protected]
All entrants must have played a minimum of three League matches before being allowed to take part.
Any player who has entered and is unable to attend must give at least one week’s notice or they will receive a ban.
Five players failed to give the appropriate notice last season and it was voted in at the AGM that they are not allowed to enter the League Singles or Pairs this season.
